Our Story
Paymonx was founded in 2024 by Jose Javier Cordero Holguin and Michael Torres after experiencing first-hand the frustrations of international business payments. While building fintech products at Visa and Stripe, they watched businesses lose thousands of dollars to unnecessary currency conversion fees and experience multi-day delays on payments that should settle in seconds.
The global correspondent banking system, built in the 1970s, was never designed for the speed of modern commerce. Every cross-border transaction passes through multiple intermediary banks, each taking a cut and adding delays. Businesses with global suppliers, freelancers, and customers were paying the price.
The founding team spent two years mapping payment corridors, building relationships with local payment networks, and designing an API layer that would route each transaction through the fastest and cheapest available path. Paymonx launched its beta API in late 2024 and raised a $2,200,000 Seed Round from Buentrip VC in early 2025.

Every dollar lost to unnecessary intermediary fees is a dollar taken from small businesses, freelancers, and emerging market workers. We are building towards zero-fee corridors.
Speed Is Non-Negotiable
A supplier in Vietnam should not wait three days to receive payment from a client in the UK. Settlement speed directly impacts business cash flow and trust.
Compliance Enables Growth
Regulatory compliance should not be a barrier to going global. We handle KYC, AML, and sanctions screening so businesses can focus on what they do best.
